oil pressure sending unit part number
Does anyone have a part number for a 98 12v oil pressure sending unit? I have been to 2 different places. One does not carry it and one gave me the wrong part, had a different connector. I could use the part number for both cummins and napa.

Any ideas as to why the sending units I get from parts stores do not match the OEM unit that is on the truck?

I bought one a while back and had the same issue as you. I was told that there is two styles of connectors a long and a short (it would appear my truck has the long and I was given a short) The replacement that I got wouldn't even connect to my stock connector. Does yours?

Evidently I got the long on my truck. The one they keep giving me is the short so the prongs on it do not fit my connector. Where do you get the other?

I haven't been able to find the correct sensor yet, I just deal with the occasional ding when it comes back to idle in warm weather Sounds like we are in the same boat. I was hoping someone would jump on here and help us out.... I also wonder if the 98's use the same one as the 24 valves? |

I looked at a 24V at the parts store and it looked nothing like the one we have. I may go to Rocky mountain cummins in the morning and check on the part. I may also check into getting a new connector and use the more popular short version. I will let you know what I find out.

For those of us that are cursed with the long sending unit the proper mopar part number is 56031005 This unit is 48.25 at the dealership. The Dodge dealership would not give me the number, I had to buy the unit which I will return on Monday. If you take this Mopar number the local parts house can do a cross and actually find the proper unit. They do not have the unit listed in systems as belonging to our truck, just as a generic Mopar part number. After buying the unit from Dodge I went across the street to Advanced and got a unit for 26.00. The number for Advanced part was S4195. Hope this helps. According to my avatar I just made Cummins Fanatic. Do I get a cup of coffee or something. I would like to thank my family ....... I just did an online check at Napa. Their unit is 31.49 when you reference the Mopar number. I need to write this number down somewhere for the future.
