Water in Fuel light stays on After IP swap

I changed my IP to a Pensacola Diesel performance pump, what a difference the dog is finally dead! truck runs at 90 mph instead of 76, does a nice burnout with all four rear tires in 1st and 2nd, smokes a bit more, EGT temps a bit higher at 75mph @ 900, Darn them 4.10's The new problem is why after the install is my water in fuel light on? I did power wash it days before and it was not lit before the change, what did I miss?

You have water in the sensor connector that's on the wires from the bottom of the fuel filter. Just dry it out or wait until it dries on it's own.

Joe the connection was dry, what I did find was that the larger of the two relays on the firewall, the one closest to the drivers side, was washed off the tab and was upside down filled with water, it must have shorted as one of the 2 fused link wires on the drivers side battery post had fried, the blue wire is ok it was the other that toasted. Yes the dang truck wont start without manually lifting the fuel shutoff! I rehung the relay after drying it, bought the same gauge fuse link, hooked it back up but it seems the relay must be fried as it will not start. When started by hand it still displays the water in fuel light, new fuel filter did not help either. Regardless at last it is coming around and should last a lifetime at todays fuel prices, any thoughts on what might help is always appreciated!!! Went over your writeup again and saw this " If the starter contacts stick so the starter continues to run after the key has returned to the run
position the fuel solenoid may burn up because the pull up coil is held on by the stuck contacts." My new starter has begun to do just that, it only happens on occasion and it kicks out if you put the transmission in gear, shuting off the key does nothing when it sticks! crap another starter, relay and I hope not the shutoff itself.

The relay is only about $15 if you buy a 70 amp automotive relay instead of buying the part from Dodge. You can get one for less than $10 at NTE Electronics, Inc. - R51-1D70-12 - Allied Electronics but you have to pay shipping.

The starter may have a contact problem in spite of being new. If that's the case you can get heavy duty starter contacts from LarryB's Dodge starting problems solved here.

Thanks Joe, I bought the relay and I hope it arrives soon, also the supersize contacts for the starter and the diode to protect the fuel shutoff.
