There are alot better stuff out there. Valair comes to mind quick. Assuming you are looking at that price range. Southbend is a tough clutch. I have ran thier singles and now have a DD in mine now.

Lets see Mcleod has been around for 36 years. Valair has been rebuilding clutches (mostly A/C clutches since the early 1990s).
Some of the fastest manuals in the country run McLeod clutches.
The fastest 6spd CTD run a McLeod Dual Disc (Haisley Street Drag).
I would say that Valair is on the bottom of my list.
If you like Valair so much then why do you sell SouthBend?
I would say that McLeod (Haisley Machine) and SBC are my first 2 choices.
And then Valair.
Also, why is it that if you complain enough to Valair about problems with their clutches they send you a Southbend?
I personally wouldnt buy a Valair, from the complaints I have heard on SEVERAL other forums about quality.
JMO.
One other thing that came to mind, are Valair Dual Discs SFI approved? I cant seem to find any info. on the website.
Probably why the price is so cheap.

1st of all
we do offer SFI approved clutches.
2nd of all i'd like to call you on all the problems, on several other forum's, one forum comes to mind where they do nothing but tell lies to promote certain products. and to say if you complain enough i'll buy you a southbend, you been reading and believing to much crap on the other forum.
only time will tell, were in it for the long haul.oh and just so you will know i have been building diesel clutches for 32 years, and have had Valair since 1998.
all of this valair bashing is really getting old. i dealt directly with them for my clutch and the service and quality was great. i realize there are people out there that are extremely brand loyal, but you have got to be kidding, bad mouthing other products? give it a break!
i put my valair in a few weeks ago and love it. the price was great and the service was awsome. Kevin and Dan seem like great guys. it seems that valair is getting bashed on the other forum because they are taking so much business away from " the only clutch company in the country". these guys are building clutches that hold up and the average working man can afford.

Yes, I am aware that Valair was banned on DTR for supposed bad buisness practices.
BUT, I have also read on TDR, Comp. Diesel, and Diesel Garage of Valair clutches wearing out faster than other companies clutches.
And as far as "the only clutch company in the world", for YEARS Southbend was the ONLY company to offer clutches for our rigs.
I dont care if you guys put a Centerforce in your truck.
