semi upgraded 47rh vs nv4500

Im new to this forum so sorry if I'm starting an old thread up again, still trying to get use to this forum. Which seems to be more of a better idea semi building a 47rh or just dicing in and doing a nv4500 swap? i wouldn't mind doing the swap it just i don't want the truck being all mix matched with wiring and all the small things like tack and speedo not working. i have a quote of $3200 for a full nv4500 swap but idk which is a better idea. if anyon has input it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks..

There's no real wiring to be done. Just safety switch and reverse light wire. Tach and speedo is unrelated.

What do you mean by quote? It's something anyone can do really, with the right tools and some time. I'm collecting parts for my swap and all in after I sell my 47re I'll be around 3k with a brand new trans and 500hp clutch. Just need to source around and wait for deals.

thanks for the fast reply what brand clutch are you going with? and is there any sites or anywhere particular your getting your parts from? i kinda have to jump into mine due to the fact the tranny is leaking pretty good and its slipping a good amount too. Thanks

Not to hijack, but would a G56 bolt in as well?

Yeah I've bought some stuff from him. You don't need driveshafts, and honestly shop around for things. I'll be in less than that with an reman NV4500 and 500hp clutch... 3200 isn't really a great deal.

G56 is a lot bigger and will not bolt in. You'd need cross members reworked as well as adapters in the bellhousing/engine adapter area or things.

That is partially correct. The crossmember does have to be reworked, or you could do a 2" body lift. The G56 bolts up to the same block that holds the NV4500 and the auto trans. I went with a one piece flywheel and a Southbend Clutch, but I suppose you could use a duel mass flywheel and the stock type clutch/flywheel if you desired. It is a swap that will only really benefit you if you do a lot of towing.

Like said before G56 will mate just fine. Need a custom crossmember which would be nice if you ever had to drop trans (no more splitting the frame!). Idk about transfer case. Drive shafts will have to be modified.

I got a rebuilt nv4500 and transfer case for 800 to my door. Gotta look for the deals. I have an extra nv but it needs a mainshaft, 5th gear, and nut at the bare minimum.

yeah i been looking around. i called a well know tranny shop in my area today and the manager gave me a ruff estimate $3500-$4000 for a semi built auto tranny, triple disc converter, shift kit, valve body and full rebuild.
