i wonder if most people with 4spd auto have 1st kick in at 25. Mine sometimes really revs up to get there.
And my OD kicks in at about 45 but then seems to shift again at 53-55 is that second shift just the torque converter locking in?

Yeah, there is. However, it's on the TDR forum and is old enough that non-members can't see it. You have to subscribe to their magazine in order to be a member of the forum.

It goes on for several pages and describes in detail several options and how they work including pluses and minuses of each method.

It's here: TPS myth buster - TDR Roundtable

Maybe there has been some recent activity on that tread and you can read it without being a member.

A pot is a potentiometer or variable resister.

Yep, that's the TC clutch locking up.

well, not too worry about the TCC locking problem. Drove the truck to work this morning and was not shifting into second gear. If i put the truck into second still nothing. When driving in D it will go from first to third. Any ideas other than a rebuild

That is a symptom that the front band is not working. It would be a good idea to remove the pan and check to see that the band is still in place. If the band adjustment was not done correctly then the band anchor may have fallen out.

The band adjustment on these transmissions if NOT for wear! It is to set shift timing. The band material is so thin (about 1/32") that if there is any wear the band will go metal to metal which messes up things. If the shift is ok, do NOT adjust the bands. If it's done correctly the adjustment will be back where it was before adjustment. If it is messed up there may be damage. In this case, if the band was stuck on the edge of the band anchor or the front servor rod was on the edge of it's seat in stead of in it because the adjuster loosened it too much before tightening, then the band anchor could have fallen out.
