crankcase cover oil leak

here is what i'm working on chasing down oil leak i found it was leaking from the crankcase cover and wild i was at it i reseal the vacuum pump and steering box

if your front covers leaking i would do a kdp tab on it too, cheap insurance

do you know if it leaking from the front seal or the gasket around the cover? If the motor had a lot of miles, it could be that there is a ring cut into the crank snout from the old seal. They make a sleeve that gets pressed onto the snout that makes the seal tight again.

Just asking, but when you put the gasket on the cover did you glue it to the cover? I'm not talking about regular blue, grey or copper color type, but an actual adhesive. Also, make sure the crankcase vent is absolutely clean and no obstruction that can cause excessive pressure inside engine which can lead to failure of this particular gasket.

I've heard from my mechanic friend that this is a very common problem on the 6bt's. He mostly works on the buses and other heavy equipment that uses the 12 valve
