honest opinioo

97 12 valve. i just put the fuel plate at full forward. i notice the diff. i gave the star wheel a good one quarter turn. i do cabs .., and pull 15000 on a regular basis. am i stupid? this truck has never let me down. all stock, sept bhaf and i just turnd the pump up.

Its risky to turn up the power without having supporting mods. guages, trans mods, clutch or torque convertor etc... Even just moving the plate is not always the best way to do things, the AFC foot may be restricting the gov arm. Anyway read up on the stickies and pump mods and AFC mods. But doing all of this without having other mods is basically a ticking time bomb (you will find a weak link) You need guages too ( boost, trans temp (auto) and EGT.

You NEED an EGT gauge before you do ANY fuel mods at all (moving the plate). Otherwise you have no idea how hot it's running. That usually results in melted pistons. Get gauges and check out the beginners thread here: Beginners Thread - Read First!
This should answer a lot of your questions about fuel and tuning.
Also, make sure the KDP (killer dowel pin) has been dealt with. There's info on that in the beginner's thread as well, or just do a search for it, you'll get a million hits.
