Can you pinpoint the leak any more than "back of the IP?" One way you find the exact source of an oil leak is to clean the area reeeal good. Then run the engine or drive it around the block to make it leak. Hey presto, you can see exactly where the oil is coming from. If not, try again.

In the case that you are wondering what causes leaks and are not asking how to fix it, I can say with 100% certainty that a leak is caused by something (possibly a gasket) not keeping the leaked substance (oil) in.

But one thing you can try before all this is to tighten the AFC housing screws.

Im having my pump rebuilt now because a gasket between the pump and block failed and i didnt get it fixed in time and I guess it warped the pump surface? it was $1200 to fix the leak or $1300 to rebuild the whole pump so I just had the whole thing rebuilt.
