V10 to Cummins swap worth my while?

Okay guys, have access to the mintiest 95 dodge ram 2500 you will ever see. It only has 25k miles, buttt it has a v10 in it. From what I have heard the v10 and the cummins trucks are the same when it comes to all the components like diffs and suspension. The donor truck I have access to is another 1995 cummins 12 valve with a built auto tranny for 3k. Would this conversion be worth my while, and please fill me in on the details of the PCM and all that electrical stuff. Help and advice is greatly appreciated!

It all depends on what you want to do with the truck. You could keep the V10 if you didn't want a diesel (yes, I know, we're on CF...who wouldn't want a diesel). It also depends on how much money/time you are putting into the truck. No, I don't think it would be that difficult, but do you have the time and money to swap? If you do, go for it. I think its awesome that you are going to bring one of these trucks back up into shape. I think I read somewhere that we are around the same age (I'm 16)...if I had the money or time to do this, I would do it in a heartbeat.

I wanna drop a 12 valve in it, I already have a 1996 and love it. I have got a lot of time and have access to a shop at my highschool. And if I have a donor truck from the same year I am pretty sure I don't need to spend any extra money on parts. But I could be wrong. And for 2k..You really can't go wrong with a truck with 26k miles.

Easy swap man, you have two complete trucks from the same year so you could make it work no problem.

I swapped a 12 Valve into my 2000 3/4 ton that originally had a 360 gasser in it and everything works like it did from the factory, even the automatic trans.

shat 2 grand for a v10 I would just mess around with the v10 you don't see alot of them and the price of diesel is getting crazy. I bet with some work you would have a really cool pretty fast gasser

Yeah pretty darn good deal eh? Well I am forsure going to drop a 12 valve into it, but just to make you happy I will drop the viper engine into the donor truck for ya . Those V10's look really fast!! Apparently if you take the cat off of the exhaust it's like the loudest engine ever
