So when I'm at a dead stop sometimes it takes me forever to find 1st or 2nd. Once I get it into gear I can take it out and it will go right back in no problem. When I am moving I can get it in gear no problem but when I go to leave the next stop light its a battle again to get into gear. Any Ideas? Thanks
I have learned to not like transmissions not working properly.
As I understand trannies (not a whole lot) I would suspect that a blocking rings are working but the synchros are worn, OR that your clutch is out of adjustment or not disengaging all the way.
A quick and easy thing to check is the clutch reservoir level. If it is low/empty, it could let in air bubbles and keep the slave cylinder from ever getting pushed far enough
Just put pressure on the gear and slowly let out on the clutch. The engine will get the gears slowly turning and line them up and it will drop right in.
Yea I can always get it to go in. It's just frustrating because I have driven many of these trucks all with at least double the milage of mine and they all go into gear smooth as can be. Mine is also getting worse every day. Its not the clutch, I was guessing it would be the syncros but hoping something easier. How hard to replace them. Do you have to replace many other things to do it?
Could be a few things, a draggin clutch, dragging pilot bearing/bushing or worn syncros.
Mine is the same way, but i know the syncros in mine are f'd, every idiot known to man has driven my truck before i bought it (our old company truck LOL) and most of them havent got a clue how to drive a handshaker
