the other night my truck randomly died on me and i couldnt get it started back up . i left it plugged in overnight and then in my heated garage n still nothing i changed the fuel filter and primmed it added some diesel 911 to the tank to see if maybe a line had froze & sprayed a little starting fluid in it .. i got it to fire but then it would just die again and when you get it started and hold it at a steady rpm it will bog down but in order to start it you have to have the pedal to the floor ? what could this be im so lost on it ... ive checked my fuses, changed my batterys, checked for loose wires ?
is the shutoff solenoid pulling up when you try to start it? have you cracked an injector line to see if its getting fuel? (likely not...) Dropped the fuel filter to see if its full/clean?
i replaced the fuel filter and put fuel in it when i put it back on and primmed it .. i cracked the injector line and its not going out of them and how can i tell if the shutoff solenoid is pulling up but when its running you can tell its getting fuel unless its just running off of the fuel in the filter ?
Well, the easiest way to check your solenoid is to bumpstart it, and leave the key in the on position. Then look to see if it's still in the locked(up) position. Something else you might try is to turn the key to the on position, lock the shut down solenoid up by hand, crack your overflow valve, then go to town on the primer. The fuel that comes out should be steady, with no bubbles. If you're getting bubbles, that would signify an air leak. Check the spring in the OFV while you're there.
