well my transfer case is making a terrible clunking noise. its progressively gotten worse. it use to only do it in 4wd but now its doing it in 2wd also. i checked all my u joints on the drive shafts and the axles all good. chain slapping the case? i really dont know what to do
yeah its going to the shop tmrw. i dont have time to tear into it right now with work. from what i read up until 97 the np241 in this truck was not HD? is that correct
ya mine did the same thing the shift fork in those are bad for going out. and if you have it rebuilt or buy on from the bone yard a kind word from me that has gone through 5 of them is spend the 40 bucks and put a new fluis pump in it.its a simple job and very worth it.
Mine did something similar this summer. It turned out to be a retaining ring that snapped in half and all sorts of bad chit happened after that. If your t-case has a PTO cover on it, it is a DHD if there's not PTO cover then its a DLD. Hope this helps.
