So my buddy was retorquing my headstuds for the first of three and onre broke of in th block, we arent sure if its above the block or even with the block, trying to get ideas of ways to get it out if it is even with the block. We are possibly going to drive it that way and see what happens and if its ok I will leave it that way for now.

i would advise against running it like that, you can end up warping the head
Pull it apart and dig out the stud. Luckily their may not be any pressure on the stud and you can spin it out by hand or even with a magnet if it broke down inside the block. if not, your in for a bit of work...

If you can get at it try a left hand drill.Use a small bit using a tube as a bushing then use the left hand drill it should grab and come out if its not bottomed out.Score another for the broken head studs

If you have access to a tig welder you can build up the end of the stud and put a vise grip on it and back it out. I do it on inline 6 jeeps alllllllllllllll the time.

I agree with orange p.....And if you can get it out without an ez out you should be in good shape.
worst case scenario you will have to get a new hg and start over

This happened to me on a 4.6 cobra engine, stud was 3" in the block. Used a drill bit one size under hole to get a center point. Get an EZ out and continue to drill hole to recommended size, tap in ez out and out will come the broken stud.
Well we got the head off yesterday and the second to the last one broke off which is the one that has a dowel and from what I understand that dowel can be removed and he thinks he can get pliers or something in there and turn it out, is that correct?
