Oil Leak suggestions?

It appears that my oil leak originates higher up on the engine than at the oil pan level. I have noticed oil dripping on the right tie rod. Any ideas on what the origin of this leak might be? I purchased this well-loved on truck from someone who did all their own work, and it has been a dream. I am a newbie to this forum and I don't do my own mechanical work. I can get to a cummins diesel mechanic in about 2 hours, but don't want to be taken to the cleaners due to my red hair and gender. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Timing cover? KDP? Loose / leaking oil filter? I would start with doing the KDP if it hasn't been done yet. Cummins mechanics are expensive. Find a friend and have them show you how to do some work. WHile the 12v is cheap to work on, that only applies when you do the work yourself, not a shop.

Re: my oil leak

Thank you for your suggestion. I know the front end from the back. How to check under the hood to see if I have oil, and to always choose fuel with a green handle. If it had a psychiatric disorder I would be able to work on it. Oil leak is another thing. I will try to find a local mechanic. I appreciate your getting back with me. plv

Check the valve cover gaskets as well... They're pretty tough gaskets but they do sometimes leak. I had my #5 and 6 covers leak because the cover didn't seat in the gasket completely and it made a mess all over my passenger side of the engine.
