Probably a newb question that I could search and find but here goes..

Is the 47RE the only model auto tranny that came in these trucks?

94 and 95 came with a 47rh rather than an 47re.

Was the 47rh plagued with the same historical problems as the 47RE?

The difference between the two transmissions is the governors. The 47RH has a mechanical fly weight governor. The 47RE has a computer controlled governor. This, of course, means that the valve bodies are different. The rest of them are just about the same with minor differences.

Tranny types

Basically the alphanumeric ID's work as such

First field = number of speeds

4 = 4 speed
3 = 3 speed

second field is a torque rating, not sure how they rate these but it's a scale of 0 - 8

Third field is the DT config, so

R = Rear wheel drive
A = All wheel drive
T = Transverse mount
L = Longditudinal mount

Fouth field is the control system

H = Hydraulic
E = Electronic

So as mentioned in the last post a 47RH is a 4 speed 7 rated (torque) rear-wheel drive hydraulically controlled tranny

47RE is a 4 speed 7 rated rear-wheel drive electronically controlled tranny

They starting using these types of identifiers in 1992

Cheers.

Cool. I'm really wanting to find a manual tranny 94 to 98 model but from what I've heard it's needle in a haystack pickings on those..
