Sounds like either the converter isn't locking or its slipping. You should feel it shudder if its slipping.

it wont necessarily shudder...it will overtime as the converter clutch warps from the heat...but yes, it sounds like it's slipping. whether it's the converter clutch or the clutch packs i don't know.

what's in the tranny? when it's built...is it BUILT or is it just a stock rebuild?

yup. let me guess..there's no shift kit in it? i bet the pressures aren't up to par with the extra power.

give an aftermarket company a call...suncoast, goerend, dtt, etc. and put in an aftermarket valve body to up the pressures, get it shifting right, etc. ...or at the very least put a shift kit in it. (a lower stall converter will put more pressure on the clutch packs and will make them slip anymore if the stock pressure hasn't been modified).

Who built it and what did it cost? You can PM that info. I am just trying to get an idea of what is in the transmission. Do you still have the reciept? It should be itemized with all the parts he billed you for and then the labor should be listed and any hazmat fees.

You could have a concern with direct clutches now. What does the fluid smell like now and color? Did he go into the O/D unit? I hate to say but you may have to put a pressure gauge on it to see whats going on for pressure. With what you have done to the motor you need allot more line pressure than stock!

Sorry to hear this

Sorry man but you get what you pay for, $875 for a triple disc? I don't think so. Even the cheap aftermarket converters were more than that last time I checked.

Sounds to me like your driving through the converter lock up clutch.

Reading his post when it hit's 3rd gear is doesn't drop but 50 rpm's? It doesn't sound like a T/C to me at that time. Not saying he not slipping it when he lock up but 3rd should drop 250 to 300.

Have you talked to the trans builder?
He built it, and should be able to make it work properly.
May just need an adjustment, but it sounds like either the TC or O/D slipping.
