Need help
Ok i have decided i want a 12 valve i know that for a fact. I like to work on motors and not deal with computers so i know the 12 valve is for me. But I need to decide if i want an auto or manual. I want to do some upgrades to the truck and eventually looking to get some power out of it. I know i will have to do work on the trans. I know for the manual i will need a nice clutch to hook it up that will run me about what $1000. Now if i get an auto what exactly do i have to do to get that power to the ground. I cant see paying $6000 for a brand new billet tranny from goeroend . Cause in about a year i am going to college. eventually probably looking at 400-500 hp. But that will be in a couple years

I have an auto in my 97. Its a love hate situation with me. I dont really like shifting gears all the time but my next truck will be a 6 speed. So take that as you will. If you dont mind shifting all the time go manual.

i have a 97 12 valve and its manuel and ive got about $2200 in a duel disk clutch and a bigger input shaft! so either way your going to be spending money its all just about what your going to be using your truck for!

My auto with the torque converter and valve body seems to be doing alright for me so far.... only reason it was rebuilt a few months ago was because i roasted reverse backing up a trailer with the trailer brakes locked up. Im not making huge power, but it seems like it could handle more.
