Fuel Shutoff Solenoid question
Has anyone had one of these things apart? I have mine out, and need to replace the boot, but I have a functional question. Is the rod suppose to lock or clip into the bottom of the piston, or does it just sit in there being held by the boot. Mine keeps slipping slightly and binding which allows a slight less than full fuel flow. Thanks

The boot is the only thing that holds it together when removed.

1.75" bicycle inner tube cut to length and two small plastic wire ties works as a perfect boot replacement. Even if you have to buy a $4 tube it is still cheaper than a $25 boot.

Ok, I have the solenoid and it's bracket out...the two bolts that hold the solenoid to the bracket are 8mm head, and tighter than an 8mm socket will undo (anyone know what thread size they are?), so I am going to have to destroy them to remove (hints on how to remove?). Will also do the inner tube thing... THANKS GUYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Use a 6 point socket so you don't strip the bolt heads and they will come out.
