Auto Transmission interchangability

Will a 47RE from an 01 interchange with my 98, if not what are the differences?

They should interchange. The big difference in later years is the VSS (vehicle speed sensor) is located on the rear end, but you have 4WD so yours is either the rear end or on transfer case. Might want to inspect electrical connectors to make sure they look the same.
