Had the problem for a while and just recently had the TV cable replace by the dealer under a recall. Still has the same problem.

You can pull the TV cable out and this will delay shifts. This cable is the one that is PULLED out when you give it the throttle. The other two (one is cruise and one is throttle going to go pedal) pull in. There is a button you mash and pull the cable out. Beware button is a bear until you figure it out.

Front band out of adjustment can also cause harsh shifts. When was last time bands were adjusted? When was last filter and fluid change? A clogged filter can cause erratic and harsh shifts.

Other problems can cause and are related to governor (has solenoids to monitor pressure) and it's valves in valve body.

Here's a link to some info given to me a few months ago:

Dunrite Converters :: Frequently Asked Questions

I didn't have the shudder, but had a quick 2-3 shift. Check your TV cable well and try unplugging PCM for a while and then plug it back it in. Make sure there is no slack in the cable and have someone watch while you depress go pedal and look at trans to make sure lever starts moving as soon as you start depressing cable. Look that cable over VERY carefully, as it can cause early erratic shifts.
