Lots of great info about the TPS!!! Just wondering if the TPS is what causes mine to jump out of OD and the OD off light on the dash comes on. I have to press the button and then it'll go back to OD. Only happens once in a while but, at highway speeds when it jumps out, the RPMs get up in the 2,700+ range. If anyone has any info or has the same problem, would you please post your findings? Thanks, Dave.

The TPS should not cause the OD switch light to come on. Sounds like a bad switch or short in that circuit.

mine did that to me a few times. there was no rhyme or reason to it. installed a new switch and it has not done it sinse. oh, it's been a year now sinse i replaced the switch. think it had somthing to do with coffee from the cup spiller right next to it.

JohnBer,

Thanks for the info, I changed the switch and so far, so good. I appreciate the response, I imagine that the 44 oz Mountain Dew may have had something to do with it. Dave.

sayiwont20,

JohnBer suggested changing the switch, which I did, and haven't had it jump out of overdrive since. I wouldn't doubt that pop or coffee ended up in it at some point years ago. I can't understand how your alternator is coming loose under belt tension. The serpentine system uses an idler pulley and tensioner to maintain belt pressure and the alternator should be rigidly mounted to the alternator bracket. Am I missing something? I've also seen where the TPS can cause erratic operation and shifting. Have you performed the TPS tests listed previously on this post? I'll try to be as helpful as I can. Dave.
