96 2500 CTD with 277k should I be scared?

I recently found a truck that has me interested. It is a 1996 2500 CTD 4x4 ext cab 8 ft bed with 277k miles with a newer trans in it. It is a texas truck with no rust at all. Truck is mint to say the least Im just a little hesitant because of the miles. He wants 6500 for it. Can you gguys give me some opinions on if I should go ahead and buy it. Also if the miles arent a problem what would be?

auto or 5 speed? Are there any service records that you could see? Ask questions. 6500 is kind of pricey imo. Just my .02

Truck is auto and the current owner said he has service records. Also it is bone stock and has never been turned up.

i dont know if i would personally buy it, i got a 97 same as what that is but its 2wd with 180k stock with a new tranny and TC for 5k with an overflowing folder with service records. just look around be patient and youll find what your looking for with even less miles, the only plus is that its from texas

I guess im just trying to push myself to get this one since Ive been looking for a little over 5 months. Its slim pickens when your trying to find a truck within 5hrs of Buffalo with no rust. Ill keep looking though. thanks guys.

I'd offer him 6 and pay up to 65 if he wont go down. That's a nice truck, and I bought mine with the exact same mileage, I have never even once looked back! Seems like an good deal to me, don't worry about the mileage if the things been taken care of, it's not high mileage for a 5.9 12 valve. esp. with no rust!

Mine was a shot in the dark with only the most recent service records, and this guy has some, which is good.

I say go for it if it's the one you're looking for.

I got the guy down to 5900 now and Im seriously considering it. Any more opinions guys? its never been modified at all so it probably wasnt beat on and it has never had a 5th wheel hitch or goose neck. So light towing if any and a new tranny. I think im gonna go for it.
