with those miles even stock, I wouldn't pay that much for an auto transmission ...

The stock tranny in this truck lasted the guy 278k miles... And no, it's not bs... It's all depends how you treat and service it... This one had fresh lube and bands checked every 25k miles... The truck I used to hotshot was at 183k and had been hooked to a trailer it's whole life and was still kicken with the stock auto...

go after this rig without reservation its really nice
the mileage is a secondary issue it looks like a highway rig and it has had care
i'd vote yes and if i were looking for a rig i would take the time to drive it and get a feel

Also look for the usual tech service bullitin issues for this year of rig and see if they have been done that is a sure way to determine the care the rig has had

my 2 cents....

i agree with you about the early 2nd gen dodge i lost my 05 in a flood and replaced it with a dmax chev (choke) and had to buy a loaner truck while the chev was in the shop getting work done on it
I bought a 94 and it truly is the best rig i have ever owned
its even more comfortable than my other trucks

I bought mine with 164K on a 98. The injector lines had the stock paint on them, never even had an injector cracked. I've done 10K since I bought it and put in a new oil pressure sensor, changed all the fluids, etc - just to be safe. Truck runs great. Go get it.

By the way, I'm in rusty VT and spent the time and money to get a nice one in Texas too. I had a friend with a 2004 chevy look under it and ask to trade. His is rusted out, mine looks like it just came off the showroom.

I bought mine with 355,00 miles for $6000 from a dealership
1 owner truck, no plow mounts or even a reese hitch.

$5900 seems like a good deal to me as long as all is well with the truck

Mine's bone stock at 199,8xx and still has the stock slush-box that still motivates the truck fine. The most I pull with it is my 24' Grady White (7,000# dry weight). Have seen original trannys go well into the 300k range, depends on the care and maintenance it receives. I've left the truck stock, I figure more HP would probably be the death of the Trans. If the truck is really what you want, go for it. The only way someone would get my old 94 is if they pry the keys from my cold dead hands. Good luck with your descision, Dave.

sdiesel, I've had the 94 for years, bought it from my Dad when he bought his new one. With the miles it has it'll have to wait for the big rebuild for HP increases (I've got a father/son/daughter project planned). The kids (all 5 of them) think it should have the Monster Truck look when we're done so who knows how radical we'll get with it but, hey! I'm an engineer and have some "Tim the tool man" traits as well. Good to hear from you. Always thought the slogan "real trucks don't have spark plugs" is the best. Best of luck, Dave.

BTW: I've got a built car if I need to go fast, a 6,000# truck is the brawn that gets the car to the track.
