How many miles on it?
Ever had the valves adjusted?
Do you run fuel additive?
Does it miss, or run rough?
Any mods?
How's the air filter?
Is there any oily residue in the turbo?
Blue smoke is usually oil, sometimes fuel. So it could be a valve seal, piston rings, turbo seal, or a leaky injector.

Lets start with inexpensive stuff, run some PowerService Diesel Kleen through it, dose it fairly heavy, maybe a qt, and run it hard. Find a hill, or pull a heavy load, or just run down the interstate at 2200 rpm for an hour or so. Hopefully that'll clear the injectors.
Of course, if it gets worse, or overheats, or starts making real bad noises, STOP.
Have you pulled the intake tube to check for oil in the turbo?
These motors want to work, and need to now and then.
