blew trans...uprgades?

i bought my truck 3 weeks ago and the trans let go. its not all that modified but i do plan on putting a #10 plate and doing some towing with a 30ft enclosed trailer. so my question is what upgrades should i do so i dont have to worry bout burning it up again? heres some history on this. i flew out to sac and drove it down to san diego. truck ran like crap so i did the normal service of valve adjust, fuel filter, serviced air filter(k&n), kdp fixed, front crank seal/timing cover reseal, replaced belt, slip f-plate/afc f-f, straight piped it, serviced both diffs, t-case, trans and adjusted bands(way out of adjustment), oil change, and couple minor stuff but my gas mileage dropped from 19 to about 15mpg. i figured since i messed with the i/p it was normal. i was about to do the valve body upgrade from transgo and found the front drum scored so i figured it was time to come down and explains the loss in mpg. it has a aftermarket t.c. but other than that i think its stock. any suggestions on while its out? i dont have enough money for a billet t.c. and im doing the work myself(ex diesel dodge tech). any advise would be greatly appreciated!

converter is kinda the heart of the whole deal. stock ones barely stand a chance against a stock motor. they just turn too much of that torque to heat. heat is the enemy. lu clutch is pretty weak to begin with and after so many on and off cycles the whole front of the converter flexes weakening it more. I know the billet is expensive, but doing it again is also. Good valve body or kit yours properly and the trans should be set for a bit more power and some towing. beef up the band apply strut also. I cant emphasize enough the stock stamped steel converter will bite ya if ya mod/tow heavy tho.

Get the triple disc, do it now and be done with it. You also need to do a valve body and a billet input. These are the best upgrades you can do to your trans

so i assembled the overdrive unit and got rid of the retainer and was able to add 3 more steels/fibers for a little extra holding power and gutted the check valve in the cooler line.

Do you take outside repair jobs? I just got a diesel dodge 2500 and likely need all those services youve done.
Thanks.
