wow, 13mpg, thats brutal!

I havent really paid alot of attention to my mpg but after putting on my 33" tires and at about the same time i put on the BHAF and my milage seems to be about the same on the highway (mid 20s) so i expect that it did help a bit.

You can get the filter pretty much anywhere the 2790 wix/napa also crosses over to a few other MFGs so you shouldnt have a problem getting one.

their are plans kicking around for a BHAF heat shield somewhere on the boards. You can use whatever you got kicking around, tin or light gauge sheet metal

not having the heatsheild isnt going to kill you, but it does kind of defeat the purpose of modding the intake when you go from a low flow cold air (stock) setup to a higher flow filter thats sucking in smoking hot air!

for the aftermarket cold air intakes, I would say S&B filters are the best bang for your buck. Its like $269 shipped from most places. But then again you can't beat the price of a bhaf. their website is sbfilters.com

air intake

I just put a Summit cold air intake on my 94. Its the exact same thing as K&N but about a $100 bucks cheaper. It even has all the same K&N logos on it even though it doesn't show them in the pics on their website. I think the K&N was around 280 and the Summit was around 180. You can really hear the turbo now. Had a friend open the glove box Monday because he thought I relocated the filter in there.
