Replaced head gasket head was pressure tested and decked with new valve seals new oil cooler water pump thermostat radiator, freeze plugs behind tappet cover are good cylinder walls looked great still had cross hatch no scoring truck starts right up runs good no misses. Do I have a cracked block?? Is there anything else I should look for?
I've had friends lose a head gasket right away, suspect a major problem, and it turned out they did something wrong installing it. Gasket upside down, didn't clean the block surface well enough, etc.
Not making an accusation or anything, but we have to look at all possibilities on the table.
It won't hurt anything, some actually swear by it.
However, I would say it's unlikely to stop your leak, and you'll have to remove all your injection lines to get to all the bolts so make sure you have a new set of the horseshoe washers for the return line.
Ah, gotcha. That's actually not a bad idea... that line is kind of a pain to get on and off unless you have the rocker covers off as well. And the banjo fitting behind the rats nest of relays? Yeah, that was well thought-out.
I might make a similar modification next time mine's apart.
