I have rebuilded this trans two times and that sound has been always there, i'm just wondering that should it be there? i think not, but i just don't know where to look for.
I can't really hear it from the crappy speakers in my laptop, but what fluid and how much are you running? Did you properly shim the main and countershafts? What all did you replace during the rebuild?
Shaft's are shimmed, first time i had countershaft and 3rd gear and main bearings and the second time replaced all bearings and synchros.
Oil level has been normal and little less than quart overfill, 75w-90 full synthetic gearbox oil (teboil ep75w-90, red line mt-90).
5th has always had that noise, no matter what and it's only the 5th.
5th puts more of a strain on everything because it is overdrive. Something must be loose to make noise. It may be as simple as one of the plastic pads on the shift fork fell off when you installed the top cover. Turn up the radio?
I would run mopar or castrol oil, but i can't get those, they are not part of import and ordering overseas would cost way too much.
Oils that i use have the same quality or even better, i have checked that out.
Turning radio on works fine  but that doesn't remove the fact that there is noise that there should not be.
Let's hope it's just resonance, our legal speed limits doesn't help, allows only 50mph for these kind of trucks.
Has anyone installed a temp gauge for gearbox? and what it should be at max?
Thinking of installing one at next oil change.
Temperature might not be the cause since noise seems to have very little affect on temp, it might be a little less noisier after 2-300 miles constant driving.
