Hi im thinking about swapping out my auto tranny for a manal. I was thinking about the nv4500. So im looking for cheap one start getting the I need. Were can I get a chesp nv4500. My truck is 1998 dodge ram2500 ex cab 4x4. Any advice you can give me will bevvery helpp full as this is my first diesel and will be mebfirst tranny swap?
in my opinion you might be better off to buy a wrecked truck with the trans you want if you can not find parts. There are more parts you will need than a transmission, ex. pedal assy. slave cyl. and hydraulic lines ,speedo hook up , dash cluster, steering column, fly wheel, driveline work, possibly different t case. I am sure I forgot some stuff but, you can not just take an auto trans out and put in a manual without some work.
I know it will take a lot more parts the just the tranny but was goingbto slowly buy parts so I can spread out the cost.. my buget is very limited and so im tryingbto spread out the cost
You want to swap transmissions on a budget, but plan to do it the most expensive way. Here's an idea. Save the money you need to buy a donator truck, then do the swap. While you are watching the balance of your savings account climb take the time to read the dozens of threads about transmission swaps that have been posted already. Since this is your first diesel you can also read this http://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/94-98-powertrain/287781-beginners-thread-read-first.html
