fuel shutoff solinoid

well every time i start my truck i have to pull the lever on the fuel shutoff up to start my truck. i tried replacing the relay and that wasnt it. so whats wrong?

Have you tested for power going from the relay to the solenoids pull coil? If their is the solenoid is junk.

If not, check for ground and power to the relay. it should have a constant power and another line that is hot while the starter is energised

Check the dark blue wire on the positive post of the driver side battery.

actually i have a buddy with a 12v, could i take his shutoff solinoid and put it on my truck to see if mine is bad?

First check the blue wire as Joe said.
It's the problem at least 75% of the time.
It may be corroded under the insulation where you can't see it.
If you need to test your solenoid it's much easier to unplug it and jump a negative and positive from the battery to it than to swap with another truck.

you could always put a hand kill like i did on mine. Previous owner went through three solinods.

1994 dodge 2500 4x4 12v. no engine mods yet. The tranny has been built and a aftermarket convertor. Small lift on 35'. 5'' exhaust and cold air.
