Lets talk valve springs
Who makes valve springs that will hold 50+ psi and 4000rpm and not experience valve float? I assume push rods will be needed correct?

I have read that the 110lb springs are generally good to 4500 RPM. Should have no issue what that much boost.

There is plenty of information on this do a search. Skip the 60lbers they don't have enough pressure over the nose of the cam. Get a good 160-170 lb seat pressure spring, retainers, and pushrods.

taylor manning at manning motorsports has alittle package deal if ya order pushrods and valve springs.

Hamilton Cams makes 165 pound springs. I have seen some people say that 110 springs are fine into the 4000-4500 rpm range, but others have said they will start to float around that same point. If I remember correctly, 110 pound springs work well in 24 valves, but the heavier valves in our motors require a stiffer spring to prevent valve float when the motor is spinning 4000 rpm or more. Don't quote me on that though, I may be wrong. I research this a long time ago and came to the conclusion that 165+ springs are a worthwhile investment if you are going to spend time at 4000+ rpm.

So conclusion is 110lbs or the 165 Hamilton. Are all the 60lbs created equal I have the PAC brake brand not to impressed with them.

I run 60# pacbrakes springs on exhaust side only at 4200 rpm and 60 psi on a daily basis...

The PAC Brake springs are not a true a 60# spring. I had bad valve spring issues with the PAC Brake springs. Put a set of Hamilton 60s and haven't had an issue since.

60 lb springs have 145-150lbs of seat pressure and around 225lbs at maximum lift on an average cam. Stock springs have about 80 lbs on the seat and 225lbs over the nose. In other words they are better at holding the valve closed against boost and drive pressure, but since they have no higher pressure over the nose, they are no better at controlling the valvetrain at higher rpm.

110 springs are good for 24valve engines, but do not have enough pressure for performance 12 valves.

What about the single spring 165# springs you offer ? When do you feel they become necessary over say a 60# spring? Certain RPM, Boost, or Drive Pressure limit for the 60s that you'd suggest stepping up? Of course the combination of all three will be a big factor.

the 60 # springs are good to 45psi or so. Anything over that and or over 3750 rpm or so and the 60# springs can not fully control the valvetrain. Higher velocity cams make it even harder to control the valves.

165# beehive springs work well with stock cams to 5,000rpm, 4,500 with very fast cams and larger valves. If you want to go over 4,500 rpm with big valves and a lot of boost , you will need around 185-200# on the seat, and you will need to limit pressure under 450# on the nose......
