Why do you want or need a different intake? If you fill out your profile with your truck information you might get a better answer for your goals. Several guys have just taken exhaust tubing and made their own intake.

I have read about air restrictions caused by the stock intake manifold. Perhaps an after market one will lower EGTs, give a little if any more power.

are you talking about the intake horn or the actual intake manifold that bolts too the head?

On Cummins forum instead of working or doing homework.

I asked a similar question about a split intake manifold and this is what I was told by someone who is very knowledgeable about these engines.

"On a stock head the intake flows 135cfm &160 on the exhaust. If after doing this your boost went up and you drive pressure went down you could say it made a difference it wont. It takes better head flow to drop egts (more air through the head). Everybody talks about the uneven flow between cylinders but I have yet to see any results of egts of each cylinder and that is influenced by the way water is circulated through the head."

Apparently the air intake is not the real problem. Porting the head would be the right solution to drop egt's. As expensive as the head gasket is I would not worry about it until you get to serious power levels or develop a leak.

The stock intake horn is good for alot of hp and would be one of the last things I would purchase. But to answer your original questions I have read of a few of the cfm's cracking and a few exploding with high boost, the only ones I have tried on my 98 12valve and my 2007 was the afe bladerunner. Its a real nice peice and I could feel alittle in low end response. Its also has ports on the back for water/meth injection etc.

Won't make any performance difference but would clean up the look under the hood. Another vote for either pusher or crazy carls. Both are reasonably priced and look good
