Put them in and go with it. If you drive it normal you won't have any problems. You'll need timing and fuel to turn the full 4k rpm. I highly 98% doubt your gonna have any problems on a stock truck other than governor springs. You probably won't even need valve springs if you don't plan on doing anything to the pump because it won't turn that many rpms

in all honesty you dont need to have those gauges yet. all tho they are a nice way of keeping an eye on things. your running stock injectors. i rarely saw egts over 1000 with stock injectors and no plate. thats my 2 cents

Very stupid advice, get guages, be safe and dont cheap out. Ive seen people peg their pyros on stock trucks and even more with mildly modded trucks (afc and such). Go get a set of guages and keep your peace of mind. Because once you do the 4gsk you'll be bit.

Sold:1997 SLT 4X4, 215 pump, NV4500, no plate, tuned AFC, 4GSK, 60lbs valve springs, HX40w, Southbend clutch, 4:10s. Way more to come
in valet mode my platless truck with 4k gsk didnt break 1000 degress. in normal mode would hit 1800 quick . but like said . get gauges or just take it easy on the go pedal until you get them
For a stock truck, I see no good reason to buy gauges.
Well this thread is about putting the 4gsk kit in, whiiiiiich is then taking it from a stock truck to a not stock truck. He may not need them with just #60 valve springs but hes on his way to doing more and more. Diesel 101 bud. Get guages you wont regret it.

The 4k gsk should not change hp levels. It simply allows the fuel to keep coming. Gauges are always a good idea. I will be adding a 4kgsk and a 10 plate for towing. I will then add a low stall torque converter and a shift kit for better line pressure because of the 10 plate and weak transmission. The 10 plate while towing requires a pyrometer. I do not see the 4k gsk needing anything but perhaps valve springs IF the tach is taken past the redline. I will not be revving it that fast so I will only need valve springs once an exhaust brake is installed to handle the back pressure.

i did have a boost gauge. im pushin around 17lbs. i took it off an i have a new one on the way. if i were to change my fuel plate would it be able to push the 4 GSK?

I don't think you fully understand how well Big Blue24 knows this engine.
Personally, I would not hesitate to add a 4kgsk and 60lb v/s without an egt gauge. Do you need gauges? Even if it's stock, yes. Maybe not now, but you will.. Especially fuel pressure.
