need comparable tow-friendly power

Alright, my uncle and I are both swapping 12 valves into our 1 ton fords. Mine is a 180 pump and his is a 215 pump.

Mine will be done sooner (he's working on another project right now) and I have my parts bought. My truck is more of a toy, while it'll pull bumper trailors occasionally I'm not concerned about how it does towing.

My uncle's is an 88 1 ton dually that he is building a custom gooseneck for (has 4" lift and 33s, too tall for standard gooseneck) and wants a tow-friendly setup for his truck, but wants to keep it comparable to mine.

We both have 4.10 gears, though I run a little larger tire, 35s vs 33s. He bought a 2wd nv4500 that he's putting a divorced transfercase behind, I bought the $800 adaptor plate to use my zf5.

Here's a list of the basics I have for my engine.
90hp injectors
0 fuel plate
AFC tuning
HTT 62/65/12
OFV
4kgsk/60 lb vs
18 deg timing
AFE intake and 4" exhaust

So my question is, what would be a good towing setup for him that would be at a similar power level? Would a setup just like this work well for him? He wants power and decent fuel economy and doesn't want to be watching the egt gauge all the time. It's got a worn out 460 in it right now so as long as he gets double digit mpg it'll be an improvement haha I have an he351cw, would this turbo work out well for towing?

Here's the trucks. His is on the far left, mine is 2nd from the right. This is back when it was still independant front suspension. He's got a black 92-97 front clip he's putting on his too. Not a fan of the older style.

Stock turbos tow fine with some light fuel improvements. The 62 will do OK as well.
The 18 degrees, that is a bit much. I would not go more than 15.5 for a tow rig. I've had mine at 16, 15.5, 15 now. It just stank more, did not get better mileage.
Added timing = added pressures.

Zero plate for towing wouldnt be my first choice. I would stick with a 10 mid forward. As for timming I'm happy at 15.5* but Im not modded very much.

Thanks I forgot about the plate and I agree! When you are racing and stuff, you can put down lots of power and the drivetrain is OK with that. Towing, you are just shooting yourself in the foot with too much power. My measly first attempts got me a little over 200 HP at the wheels, and it would move my 10,000 pound 5th wheel as fast as I dared go up the hills.

Yeah, I figured a 0 plate would be too aggressive for a truck that tows a lot.

I'm thinking 4kgsk/60lb vs, 351cw, 10 plate, and 90hp injectors. wont quite be at the same power level but it should be a good towing setup.

I'd recommend the mods you just listed, but to save money I'd grind the stock plate to a number 5 and try the stock injectors.

62/65/12 is a good towing turbo. I would just make sure timing is stock because the more you advance it the slower it will spool. To be honest the list of mods you have for your truck seems like a good towing setup with some tuning.

Using a 215 pump. Mac rack plug not required.

I have a 2095 for my pump, but like you said, I read it isn't necessary on a 215.

Bumping the timing up slows spoolup? I never heard that before. Is it very noticable?

You move your powerband up in the rpm range and lose the low end. I bumped from 13.5 (stock) to 18.5 and lost 150rpm on spool. Also if you're not running head studs I just wouldn't touch the timing at all. Pressures raise much more than you'd ever think.
