Its crazy isnt it! belave me im not dreaming this up ill try that & see what happens, i have also checked the boost psi with my snap-on 0-50 gauge & it reads the same as my isspro in the cab. Id be willing to pay $ for an anwser if someone around here would be willing to give it a shot. Again it run's VERY good & burns clean once boost is built. I think a little more boost would help with the almost 1300 egt if i leave it to the floor?
Nope man im not sure what else to try???? it runs pretty dam good though just rocket's to 25-26 psi max & stays there. it burns pretty clean too id just like 30 psi to help keep the egt;s lower than 1250-1300 im up for any ideas or sugestion's
Seems like its almost the same problem I have mine burning pretty clean now to hardly any smoke. I can easily hit 1400-1500 on the pyro if I stay into it. My boost is a little different it shoots up to 20 then slowly pulls up to 22 and by that point I have to let off cause its to hot. I'm hoping to check my timing either this weekend sometime or maybe next weekend. I think something is going on with it because I still hard start in the cold with all new fuel lines and my preheater gone. So hopefully the timing fixes it or my wastegate is seized open.

Let me no what you find awell! mine starts just fine cold(freazing or below) has a slight haze until it warms up then clean. Ive confirmed the gate is shut & the bst elbow Whats the CPL# of yer pump? mines 1968 it seems that the 1968's have a diffrent chart for timing vs mm lift. Acording to piers chart im at 16.5 timing. when i bought the truck i checked the timing & who ever had set the timing (according to piers chart) had it about 23! It got some bottomend back & was a little quiter & gave apx 150-200 egt increace but mileage stayed about the same 17-22 city hwy. FYI my buddys 98 12v just has stright 3 in pipe,BHAF & stock plate ff & 32lbs of bst w 1150 egt!?!? somthen wrong w our's .. gotta be.
Yeah something isn't right for sure. When I get into it and check out the timing I will let you know. The truck seems like it performs pretty good really has lots of power but it feels like my bottom end isn't where it should be. I've also got a buddy from work whose talking to his instructor at SIAST who runs a diesel performance shop to see what he thinks I will post back and let you know what he says too.

That would be aesome man im to the point im willing to Pay$ to get it figured out. Seems the more fuel i throw at it i get more power but egt's go up & bst stay's the same.
Ok figured it out!!!!! i moved my"coustom"plate full foward & went for a drive...... Holy s%$#t itll almost hit 38psi! now. The lesson? 160 pump's need some mod's to run hard! Man thats just crazy!
With the mods & current set up i can over power my charger with out a plate!!! I.E. almost 40psi & can peg the pyro!!! not cool in my book So i backed er down to run the best rite at 30-32psi & made my AFC come in full @ apx. 30psi man it run's hard & buns clean.& so far its peek egt is less than what it was with less fuel! 1250-1300! im leaven er alone if the milage is still as good. Ah i see how you keep egt's in check with water meth injecton then let er rool!
Well I tried the same thing that worked for you and sure enough worked for me too. Slid my plate FF put it back together went for a drive and easily gets to 30 psi boost now. Thanks man
