97 12v Boost Pressure

I have a friend who has a 97 cummins with a custom fuel plate, bigger injectors and an HX40. The wastegate limits the boost to about 25psi. How can he get the full boost potential of the HX40? Any tricks?

You need a boost elbow. This will "lie" to the wastegate and let you build more boost. Found one, click here eBay Motors: DODGE CUMMINS TURBO, TURBOCHARGER ADJUST BOOST ELBOW (item 120180879615 end time Nov-16-07 13:38:01 PST) :thumbsup

This will fix you right up.

You can probably take the wastegate actuator and rod off. Rod should be threaded, shorten the rod, and that should do it. Threaded part could be pinned, drill the pins out and then you should be able to turn it.

follow the boost line off of the turbo and when it crosses under the aluminum valve cover and turns to a rubber line for about 4 inches you can pinch the line off with a hose clamp and ive set mine to about 45 psi with stock everything on turbo.

get a quality adjustable wastegate, then you can tailor your boost pressure to the highest efficiency zone so you keep the temps cool and the power high.

x2 on the boost elbow.

i went from 24 to 36 psi for $40 shipped.

cheap and works great.
super easy to install,
just make sure the trucks cold.

it dropped my egts the most, and was the cheapest mod I did. :thumbsup
