injector removal

even if you are sending your bodies in for cores why destroy them in the removal process?

worse yet if you are planing on having someone redo them and ship em back??????

remove the nuts pitch the dust covers and spray em with lps or aerokroil

have the right tools. i like a ladys foot or a set of them in diff sizes and a pry bar if need be. (dont usually need pry bar (or brass hammer after lps)

get a 14 x 1.5 nut and screw it down at least 75%. ladys foot off a head bolt should get it to move. increase size as inj raises up

do not put the pointed end of the ladys foot in the return and try to pry there

will turn the inj into scrap quick style

and dont chince out on the nut and try to use vise grips. they will slip off the square part of the injector and bugger the threads eihter ruining the core or making for lots of filling work by the machinist

come on guys...please use your head

shouldnt matter if the injectors are getting new tips or the pressre set adn coming back to you or if you are just turning them in for cores

thanks, don

*ps - if you are going to disassemble and take a look inside please take note of how it came apart so you do not destroy the injector improperly assembling it and PLEASE do not lose any of the internal parts. thanks again

No need for all the tools, all you need is the lug nut and a piece of 1/2" or 3/4" pvc or steel pipe 1-3/8" long. Some fittings such as tees are close enough.

Just slip the pipe over the injector and tighten down the lug nut.
If the pipe is too short stack up some washers, too long cut or grind it.

Most times the injector pops right out just turning the the nut with your hand.
If you have to use a wrench on the nut it will feel like no force at all to pop them out.

I can't count how many injectors I've removed this way, never have had to use penetrating oil even once.

I have done 2 sets with the lugnut and pipe method. No damage at all.
Around here with the humidity and such I doubt you could pry one out without hurting it.

Matt-You are 1/2 way to a 12v as it is LOL
