In order to have my stock 47RH cope better with the power of truck I am considering an upgrade.
What are your recommendations and what cost would be incurred?
My truck is a '94 12V 4x4 with aFe intake, TST #5 plate at 2/3 fwd, and a 4" WarpSpeed turbo-back cat-elim. exhaust.
The power is estimated to be somewhere at around 250HP
I am planning to move the cam plate all the way forward once the tranny is modified, but no further power upgrades beyond this are planned for.
Therefore, the 47RH should be able to stand around 300 HP to be on safe ground...
Would the swap of the stock T/C be sufficient already or do I need a different valve body instead or in addition? - What modification(s) would need to be done at all?
I found various T/Cs (Goerend, ATS, BD, etc.), valve bodies (Dunrite, BD, IPT, etc.) etc. but am not sure what would be appropriate for my application?
Thanks for your help
and best regards from Germany
Tom

Double ditto on Goerends!! How many shops will give you their home phone and cell number to call on a Sunday when your doing your own rebuild with his parts.!! :thumbsup :thumbsup Go for a triple disc convert and one of his valvebodies.

I have only been told this if you install a better converter and you dont increase the line pressure that the clutches are in trouble. The better fluid coupling is sending more torque to the clutches. If you give Dave Goerend a call he can tell you what you need. I am only guessing but a Valve body and converter. His warrenty is the best that I know of. Super guy to deal with. :thumbsup If I ever decide to have a better automatic he will get my money. I just rather have a 5 speed good luck Jim
