Adding factory Fog lights

My truck has the switch in the dash and the fuse, Yet no fog lights, nor any wires that i can see. P.O said there was wires but i dont know where to look

Would like to get some better lighting since most of my driving is it at night.

What would i need beside the lights, mounts, and related hardware?

I bought a set of fog lights on eBay for about 40-50 bucks and installed them with my own wiring so that they come on with my parking lights. Works well and definitely helps with the terrible 2nd gen lighting.

One member said they spent hours trying to find the factory wires and never could. They ran their own wires in 1/2 hour or less. If you have the wires they are under the dash...somewhere probably deeply hidden.

when I replaced my bumper the new one had fog lights and a short amount of the harness so I grounded it then ran a power wire from battery to a 20amp breaker then to a switch in the door panel then back to the lights

+1 on this thread. From the research I've done it seems manual transmission trucks were not allowed fog lights. Not fully positive on this but no provision for a fog light switch without an OD switch on a factory dash. But I'd love to have them myself, with factory wiring if possible.

My truck disagrees with your research:

I remember the thread. Those things look too bright to run on the street with other traffic.

The wiring is present from the engine bay fuse block to the connector on the lower radiator support. You'll have to add the two relays to your fuse block and then run new wires from them to the dash switch. I have a write up on this from another site. I'll try to post it later tonight.

Had a bit of time so I stopped by one of my favorite local bone yards and poked through a few of the 2nd Gen Ram 1500s that they are parting out. Low and behold, the cubby hole:

So I probably have seen it before, just never paid attention to it.

Also after looking through a few trucks, there is definitely not fog light wiring behind the dash in the trucks that did not come with them from the factory. The plug for them is part of the front wiring harness and can be found on the front crossmember on all the trucks I looked at.

I also got the shackles and PIAA LED fog lights that Santa brought me installed using the factory fog light wiring.

Oh yeah, my dash with 2 fog light switches installed:

Only the left one is currently operative.

My fogs are wired to the parking lights (which I like) but there is a knockout next to the o/d switch and I think it would look better if I put a fog switch in there. Think it's worth $20 on eBay for the switch?

The cubbyhole cracks me up, I guess Dodge had to do something with the space... Eventually I'll probably put fogs in using a factory switch, but until then, I've been trying to think of a good use for that little thing. Nothing really fits in it.

Ok, it took forever to find this again: http://www.ramforumz.com/showthread.php?t=62468

Like I said, the main guts of the fog setup should be present on the engine bay side no matter what. The issue is that the wiring is not present on the interior side of the trucks harness. This how-to is right on the money for 94-97 trucks that we're not factory ordered with fogs.

There used to be a MOPAR fog light kit available that included everything, but it warned that it wouldn't work with diesel optioned trucks.

If we had 98.5-02 rigs, it'd just be a plug n play job... Oh well.
