The stock harness was engineered to carry the minimum required load when it was brand new.

You add age to the harness, and now it's not performing.

You could add more load (2nd set of lights) but it would be (IMHO) too much for your dash switch and the stock harness.

Not a good idea.

Part of the beauty of the harness upgrade is larger wires, direct pull from the batteries, and less load in the switch.

I know but I'm pressed for time.

The system has 40a fuse, I calced it and i should be just under that with hi/los all on at the same time....anyone know what the switch is rated for?

I looked at the bulbs and the 9007s are 55/65= too much juice for the factory wiring. I think I'm gonna run the new lights with just the 9007 hooked up until i get my harness.

The switch is rated for about -2A. Or, at least that's what it seems like.

The switch fails under normal factory load usage, putting more load on it is asking for quick trouble! If nothing else, use the switch to trigger a fused relay powered off the battery.

Thanks for the info on the SUVLights harness. This is the only complete conversion harness I have found. Daniel Stern sells a "kit" for about half the price, but you have to provide your own wire and assemble it yourself. The kit is connectors, relays, fuse blocks and instructions. I just don't feel like it, so I ordered from SUVlights... Someone said it takes a long time to arrive. I need it in 2 weeks. Should I expect it by then?

Dear Santa, Please bring me a 5" exhaust and a PDR cam. I've been a very good boy.

Looks like they picked up the pace a bit. I ordered my harness on Wednesday. SUVLights called and emailed me on Thursday to ask what year my truck is. Saturday, they sent me a message saying the harness had shipped.

I don't have any pics... they aren't that impressive. Just looks like two lights By far the best upgrade I have other than the engine brake and the torqLoc and the...

Smooth job and excellent results.

Made one mistake, placed a fuse to close to the battery and on a hill the acid leaked out and ate up the fuse; so the whole side went dead. Just be sure to keep the installed wires away from the battery vent.

is the difference mainly in the Hi mode or does it utilize the additional bulb in both Hi and Lo? I have a set of Piaa drivers but I like to keep the clutter down and this seems a good option. Thanks for the information. Curt
