dana 70 posi clutch's question

Alright so the posi is out on my truck and the 1 tire fire things a little annoying. Was the dana 70's also not stacked right or is it just the d80? also will i have to mess with the backlash if i replace the clutches?

Look on the underside of your hood. You should have a sticker that tells you what your axles are, transmission etc.

The clutches are not stacked right. Also, they do wear out over time. You can stack them to make the posi really grab hard. No need to mess with the backlash. DON'T forget to add the friction modifier to the oil when you put everything back.

Stacking the posi clutches refers to how they are installed. Some in one position and some in a different position.

Backlash is a measurement of how the gears line up.

No need to swap anything. Buy a clutch pack(s) from E-Bay and install them or have a shop install them. You may need two packs, my D-80 needed two. Even if you buy another rear end, you still have to check out the interior and it could easily have other issues.

make sure your truck had the limited slip before buying clutches, if your unsure call the dealer with your vin and they can tell you everything it had from the factory
