dana 70 posi clutch's question

Alright so the posi is out on my truck and the 1 tire fire things a little annoying. Was the dana 70's also not stacked right or is it just the d80? also will i have to mess with the backlash if i replace the clutches?

Look on the underside of your hood. You should have a sticker that tells you what your axles are, transmission etc.

The clutches are not stacked right. Also, they do wear out over time. You can stack them to make the posi really grab hard. No need to mess with the backlash. DON'T forget to add the friction modifier to the oil when you put everything back.

96 reg cab, 5sp long bed 4x4: 4GSK, pump and AFC altered, AFE filter, gasket matched and ported exhaust manifold, Fluidamper, 4" exhaust, gauges, 5th gear upgrade, KDP KO'ed, Hamilton cam, Southbend Con OFE, Bosch injectors, Dynatrac axles and hubs (don't go there, they don't stand by their product), airplane landing lights, Dana Powerlok's front & rear, front truss, F&R skid plates, runs on WVO.

Stacking the posi clutches refers to how they are installed. Some in one position and some in a different position.

Backlash is a measurement of how the gears line up.

1997 3500 club cab 3.54 gears towing & camper pkg. Still stock with a built transmission at 120k. 4" exhaust, 4kgsk, and exhaust brake waiting for installation. 37337 upgrade. Still need ideas for improvements for hauling 15k fifth wheel.

No need to swap anything. Buy a clutch pack(s) from E-Bay and install them or have a shop install them. You may need two packs, my D-80 needed two. Even if you buy another rear end, you still have to check out the interior and it could easily have other issues.
