I think it's too high.
I bought my 1st Cummins back in April 2010.
1995 2WD, automatic, "extended" cab (club cab), long wheel base.
Had 230,000ish miles

Advertised at $7,000, ended buying it for $5,500

At the same time, I think KBB's value is actually too low... the owners of these trucks know what they're worth.

My 0.02!

Bought my 95 12v extended cab, long bed, 5spd with 209,000 miles about six months ago. It had a 4" straight pipe (done by a shop), K&N intake, interior in very good shape, one of the rear foldout windows had the hinge broken when the guy locked himself out of it and broke into it, tailgate a bit damaged from backing into something, brushguard with two KC's on it, nondescript aluminum rims and plain-jane 265/75 all terrains on it, spray-on bedliner in decent shape, dent in front bumper from low-speed impact with deer, front shock worn out and loose, two injectors leaking slightly (original injectors).

The guy I bought it from was asking $7,700. Above bluebook, but he knew the 5 speeds are rarer, and I had been looking for almost that exact truck for over a year. I haggled him and plagued him with phonecalls for about a week and then showed up at his house, drove it, crawled around under it, listed all the problems I could think of, and then handed him $5,000 cash. He thought about it for about twenty minutes and then gave me the title.

Sorry it was long-winded, just wanted to give you some perspective. Remember, its not what the truck is worth, its what the owner can get out of it. If he needs to sell it fast you can probably talk him down. If he is not in a hurry though, he will eventually probably find somebody who will buy it for close to what he is asking.

Sounds too high, even if kbb is low. There was a reasonably clean '95 2500 2wd 5 spd here with a camper shell that they were ASKING $3500 for. I think the timing has slipped, as it started very easily, was very quiet, smoked like a forest fire if you revved it when cold, and had absolutely no nuts. I would have bought it in a heartbeat if I could have afforded it and had any use for it. Mileage was roughly the same as the one you speak of.

4wd adds the cost difference. Here in the North East most are selling between $5000-$10000. Make sure you are looking for private party or retail pricing for the trucks. As rare as they are even private sellers are commanding top value.

my old 97 4x4 ECLB 5 speed 3.54 gears had the plate pushed forward, afc advanced and starwheel cranked, 4 inch straight pipe. Interior was fair carpet stained. Was red and had 285 75 A/T tires and aluminum step bars. 200k miles ran like a top was timed and valves adjusted. Leaked p/s fluid and oil i believe was the vacuum pump,a/c was bypassed. Sold it for 10k in less than a week this fall. Up north a 4x4 5 speed 12v with 3.54 gears will bring big $$ if it isn't rotted into the ground. A single cab about 1-2k less.

thats a bit too high.

id say it'd be worth around $5250 if the body is in fair conditon, $6K if the body is in great condition. as the same with the interior

heres a brake-down of my 95 (mind you, its not completely together)

rolling chassis: axles, t-case, cab, NO BOX, with fuel tank and fuel lines. semi complete interior ---1,000
motor: 200k, missing small parts --- 1,400
trans, flywheel, adapter plate, starter, torque converter --- 500
parts from users bought on here --- about 1,500
16 inch procomp wheels, used --- 400

total --- 4800

im still missing parts of the cooling system, and the whole drivetrain is laying in my garage. so any way you look at it, about 5,500 seems fair to me. maybe even a bit more being as it is a 5spd. everyone around here in the northeast is asking over 2500 just for a rebuilt NV4500, not including the clutch and associated parts

best of luck

I paid 7500 for my 97 ext cab 5spd 4wd. it had 147,000 on it. the motor was overhauled at 132,000 by my buddy. the rockers had some rust. It had a valair clutch, kdp tabbed, 5th gear fixed and a few other small mods already done. kbb on that was 7350 and thats what the bank gave me. I dont think thats a rediculous price but I think you and I would agree that $6000 would be way better lol.

I just picked up a 95 12v cc lb 4x4 with 204,000 for $4900. It had a brush guard, ss running boards, custom paint, gn hitch, hard fiberglass cover and air bags with on board air. Fenders have some rust. Mn truck. Here is a pic.
