Windshield Wiper question

Hi, I noticed my wipers make a noticeable clicking noise right before they come on. I don't remember hearing this with my other truck. Also, the intermittent wipers don't always come on at the same interval (sometimes I hear the clicking and they don't come on (almost like they miss a cycle), but then they click and come on with the next cycle...
thoughts?

my truck does the same thing. Seems like it would be in the electronics in the stalk. Not sure how much the multifunction switch costs on thease trucks as i havent priced one out yet but they range from $60-$400 in vehicles ive worked on before.
