Most name brand DIESEL rated oils will work fine. Rotella, Delo to name a couple. There are some synthetics also. Most use around the 15/40 weight.

Search is your friend......there are dozens and dozens of topics about oils. Go with a 15 40 CI rated oil and you won't likely go wrong. Personally I have been using Valvoline Blue 15/40 but will likely go with Amsoil synthetic after I fix all my oil leaks.

Just so I don't have to make a new thread about the same topic. Does anyone use Mobil 1 5W-40 full synthetic? If so how is it? Its rated for turbo diesels but im used to using 15W-40 so i'd rather check here before buying some.

really can't go wrong with anything diesel rated if you change it every 10k. The best oil of any particular manufacturer is the straight 30w, but if you get cold temps you will want a multiweight for winter. Unless you are in a really cold area, you should not need to get outside the 15-40 range. The only one I have had any issues with was Castrol, and I am not sure it was the diesel rated version. when I changed it, it had lost most if it's viscosity and had blobs of sludge in it after a summer of some of the heavier towing I have done.

How would 5w-40 cause low psi? Its the same viscosity as 15w 40 at operating temp but a little thinner when cold. 5w 40 might be necessary for very cold climates.
