there are no particular trucks we are looking at yet both the trucks are cool but we are trying to decide cool or power... and of course price

The first gens have better more reliable lock out hubs and are cheaper to lift because of leaf springs vs. the 2nd gens coil spring setup. If I had it to do over again I would go with a 1st gen and p-pump it.

I was in the same situation not too long ago. I came across some very nice 1st-gen. trucks. I like the old-school look of them. However, my friend told me that the front ends of the 1st-generation weren't all that strong. The Cummins motor is pretty hefty, and I guess the front ends weren't always up to the job of handling the extra weight. Still, I would think that it wouldn't be TOO hard to beef up the front end on one of the older trucks. Regardless, I ended up with a 2nd-gen.

id get the 94 more power but i would love to have a 1st gen to just have to mess around with but not a daily driver im not a big fan of the square body styles though myself
