heater questions

well i turned the heat on in my truck this afternoon and the air coming out of the vents was not warm at all. the truck had been going down the interstate for at least an hour when i turned it on. i dont know what would make it do that unless the thermostat is not opening but the engine is not overheating. thank you for your help in advance

Is the temperature gauge moving (is the engine actually warming up?)

If it is, you likely have a block in the heater core or the valve that controls coolant flow to the heater core is stuck closed (if these trucks have one)

yea it moves the air is luke warm but i remember the cummins my dad had before he got killed it would run you out of the truck when you turned the heat on. one question while i was on the throne thinkin while ago if the truck did not have a thermostat in it that it would not warm up enough to get hot enough to make the heat work

My dad had a similar problem probally have a blocked core....you can try a flush and see if that works if not you will prob need to change core out...which is a huge pain in the arse!

I have the same problem. I'm pretty sure the thermostat is the thing with a spring sitting in the passenger door. I bought it that way with it just sitting there. How hard is it to reinstall? The gauge never moves at all. And I get mediocre heat at best.

It could be your actuator, the knob that adjusts your air temperature(the red n blue adjuster). After the truck is warm pop your hood and feel the black lines going into the fire wall on the passanger side, one should be warm. If its not it could be your heater core. If it is, you may need to replace your actuator. Thats what hapened to mine, I just open it and close it manually because its a pain in the butt to replace.
