Check Engine/ Dead Pedal

98.5 24v 270k miles

Check engine light came on tonight, im pretty sure its a dead pedal. It seems like there is only 1/4 throttle no matter what i do. I press down wot in any gear and nothing happens.

Im supposed to pull a horse trailer tomorrow. is it even possible?

And i have tried and tried and i cant do the key trick to check codes...?

if you can get it to a schucks or auto zone or some where that has a code reader and see if they will pull the codes i think it might be the map sensor not 100% on that someone will know a little more im sure

i worked at dishman dodge in spokane for awile in the service department and this was pretty common on these years..some trucks would not kick back on and were towed in but 9 out of ten would kick back on...

HERES MY EXPIERIENCE- I was driving about 40mph and all of a sudden no throttle or response at all (DEAD PEDAL) and it would not kick back on so i rolled into the closest parking lot and watched in horror as my check engine light was on and my truck was just idling there helpless. i shut it down and fired it right back up and it drove away with the chk engine light still on..took it to work the next day and ran the computer through it to have it come down to the APP sensor which at my cost was 400 bucks...

P.S I hope that helps

Its kind of strange... If i drive like am babying it and trying to get good mileage it feels normal, it isnt until i go to accelerate quickly that i feel nothing from the throttle

I replaced the APPS with no success. still having the same problem.

What else could it be? I should prob have the codes checked, is that something kragen or a similar place will do free?

Start with the codes first-you need to know where the problem lies. It may not be APPS related at all. Do you know what the fuel pressure is on the truck?

I think i will take it to autozone today to get the codes checked. No i do not know the fuel pressure, i have yet to get a set of gauges. how else can i test it? can i buy a fuel pressure gauge that is meant for diagnostics that will hook up to the cummins?

could it be my fuel filter? i dont know the last time it was changed.
