i had a caliper go out on mine. 1 pad was holding pressure still on 1 side of the drivers side disc. and the other pad on the outside of the disc wasn't even engaging... had to replace the caliper. and rotor,,, kinda $$$ but fixed the problem

is your truck pulling to either side?

lets assume its pulling to the drivers side, have a buddy press the brake pedal while the truck is running and you should be able to see if both pads are pressing on the caliper or if one is stuck to the caliper.

at least in theory.

definitely sounds like your concern - it's on the valve body in the transmission - i think it costs about 100.00 - it controls the governor which in turn controls the shifting, including downshifting into 1st when coming to a stop - good luck

no just the trans pan - need 13mm(1/2") for the pan - 11mm(7/16") and 25 torx to remove the transducer - also suggest replacing the governor solenoid while you are there - 2 very common problems for these transmissions - good luck
