i wish i had a volt meter that worked, mine only works up till 10 dcv and after that it wont work so i figure if it maxes out its above 12 volts. but ill give it a try tomorrow. where are those fuses sold? just incase it is i can run and get one before work. or order one offline if i have to. thanks

Go to radio shack. For 15 bucks you can get a digital multimeter You might get lucky at a GOOD auto parts store. Dealer is the best bet But a blown fuse won't give you a burning smell

yea what ever the problem is the alternator is defenitally burning, it started to smell within 15 seconds of having the truck running.

you realy need to get your hands on a meter. I had this happen on a piece of equipment the alternator was over charging. Maybe it was working overtime to keep up with the old batteries and the regulator in the alternator is stuck. Then when you put the new batteries in they have more charge in them and the alternator is getting hot. Im no expert but might be werth checking. good luck
