Fuel Trouble
I have a 1998 dodge truck with a 5.9 diesel, this weekend I drove the truck for about 20 miles. When i returned to my truck it would not start. The engine would turn over but would not run. I checked the fuel filter for air and I bled the filter at least 10 mins but it seemed to still have air. I left te truck over nite and returned to it the next day, thinking I would have to have it towed. I thought I would try it one last time and it started. I let it run at idle for 20 mins hoping that if it was air it would clear the system. I shut the truck down and waited 10 or more mins before restarting the truck, it started, but when i dropped it into drive and gave it more fuel it shut down. I bled it agian at the filter still gettin air. also pulled a line from the VP44 going into the first injector from the front of truck, Im not getting any fuel (or air) from this line. do i have air in my system? The lift pump seems to working, as i'm getting lots of fuel thru the filter but none out of my injector pump. I took the filter off and checked the gaskets (both look fine) the fuel inside the filter was clean and does not appear to have water in it. the truck shows well over half a tank of fuel, I got the fuel just the day before at a BP station where ive filled up many times.

Sounds like it might be the VP44. I am sending you a PM with some troubleshooting tips. James RSD
